Every Sunday, I TIVO and watch “Music and the Spoken Word.” Last Sunday, they shared this from “Big Dreams on a Small Island”: (http://www.musicandthespokenword.com/messages/):
“People envy me these bits of success and say, ‘It’s well to be you,’ and so on. I smile cynically when I hear them. They do not realize how many disappointments come to one success. They see only the successes and think all must be smooth travelling.”
— Lucy Maud Montgomery, In Kindred Spirit, 49.
I WAS SINCERELY TOUCHED BY THE SIMPLE TRUTH OF THAT STATEMENT, AFTER HAVING BEEN PUBLISHED IN A CHURCH & SCRAPBOOK MAGAZINE & “SPEAKING” AT AN INTERNATIONAL DOCTOR’S CONFERENCE. EVERYTHING HAS OCCURRED IN THE LAST FEW YEARS, & I BELIEVE EACH IS A DIRECT RESULT FROM HAVING MY STROKE. DIFFERENCE IS, I DOUBT THOSE WHO KNOW ME, ARE JEALOUS OF ME! LOL
Okay, we aren’t jealous of you. We are immensely proud of you, because we do know of your trials and struggles and what you have overcome to get where you are.
Hi Jenny,
I just wanted to e-mail you and tell you I just read the article in the ensign that you wrote. I’m a little behind since we moved back to Utah in my church magazine reading. At first I didn’t read who the author was. I started reading and I kept thinking it sounded like you. After about half a page I looked at who wrote it and saw your name. I loved the article and loved it more since I had been in your ward and knew who you were. I just wanted to let you know that you did a great job and I totally admire you for what you have gone through and your attitude through it all. I don’t think I could be that strong but we never know until we have to go through something. I just wanted to say Hi and let you know I read the article. I miss seeing you even though I didn’t know you well. The Lake Travis ward was a great ward!! Take care.
