We have returned from two consecutive trips out of town. Jenny continues to become more excited about our move to Austin since returning and seeing it again. The kids like all the new things and their new neighborhood. It is difficult to travel because there are so many things that most people would not think about that we have to address throughout the day. Jenny likes being back with her power chair and computer. Otherwise, she is at the mercy of others to move and entertain her. Jenny has made some really good voice sounds lately. She does best when laying down, so I usually hear more since I am with her when she is going to bed and is waking up. I am hopeful that this is part of her gradual improvements as well. Travels also interfere with our home physical therapy, but Jenny seems to do well from the rest and has demonstrated improvements regardless.

  2. Welcome Home — we’ve missed you and are glad you are back in Indy. Sounds like you’ve had a great trip and that things are moving along well in Texas! Glad to hear that, too! See you on Sunday — take care

  3. Hi Jenny,I just wanted to let you know that you are always on my mind. I am so excited for you to be around more family. My In-Laws live in Houston and they like it alot there. I just want to let you know that you can still do your own scrapbooking of your family. If you can have digital photos downloaded to your computer you can do amazing pages. Digital scrapbooking is getting so big. You don’t even have to go to the scrapbook store anymore. There are so many sites that you can get paper and embellishments from. You are so talented I know you will make beautiful pages. You can then print them out if you want on a 12×12 printer or better yet set them up as a slide show on your computer. You can then e mail them to people you love and want to share them with. They are all done on the computer-no adhesive needed. If this sounds like something that you would be interested in doing you can e mail me and I can get some sites together for you. I think you would really enjoy it. We are going to miss you a lot her in Indy when you leave but hope to keep up with you and your family from your web page.

  5. Hi, I’m a friend of Michelle Fitzgerald (I’m in her ward) and I also know Steve and Ellyn Yacktman. Michelle told me about Jenny’s situation quite a while ago and I’ve been very impressed with the website, but never thought it would apply to my life – – well 3 weeks ago my little sister (age 32) had a stroke. It was caused by chiropractic manipulation of her neck, both vertebral arteries were damaged. Thankfully her stroke was not so severe, but she was in the ICU for 2 weeks and had a few close calls. She is now in rehab. It will take a while but she should recover all her motor movement, and she can speak, but (this is very unusual in stroke patients) she now has a very pronounced Eastern European accent. She speaks Bulgarian (she was a missionary there) and the doctors think that the fact that she spoke that and a couple of other foreign languages helped her maintain her ability to speak, but who knows. She may have this funny accent the rest of her life. She is doing well and has a very positive attitude, but it has been hard for her and her husband and kids, of course. Anyway I just wanted to share this with you, and add that even though we haven’t met I have been uplifted and so impressed by your wonderful website, and I’m sure my sister will be as well (she lives in Cleveland and was at the Cleveland Clinic as well). Jenny’s and her family’s determination is a great inspiration. Thank you for this wonderful website and the strength it gives to others!
