Jenny’s progress continues- slow and steady. She is now to the point that she can do some exercises without anyone needing to position her or set up a piece of equiptment. She is typing more, and getting a bit faster. She researches anything everything and has signed herself up on a stroke support e-group site. I get e-mails concerning cool/helpful things that Jenny looks up. She definately has a vast knowlegde of resources that are available and knows how to access them.

I finally beat Jenny in Mancalla (best 2 out of 3). We have not played in over a month or two and she is much stronger and has better dexterity. I think I caught her in a weak moment.

  1. Careful Mark, she let ya win. I am happy to hear that Jenny is doing more and independantly. I think that is so wonderful. Slow and steady is better than nothing.
    Keep up the great work.
Rob and I just bought a house and we are picking paint colors and such, busy times, considering I have school as well. But I have to check in every day. It keeps me grounded.
    We wish you the best.

  4. Hi Mark and Jenny, Remember us Lutz’s who used to be in the 2nd Ward? We moved to Plainfield in 1999. And we have a son Bryan. We love it here in Plainfield. And we are in the Plainfield Ward. I ran into Mary Alcorn at the Bishop Storehouse a couple of weeks ago and she told me that you were doing better and that you had a website. I am glad to hear that you are making progress. I didnt know that you guys had 3 children. Their pics are adorable. Zach was just a couple of years old when we left the ward in’99. Bryan just turned 18 and got his Eagle Scout requirements done in time. He is a junior in high school. Terry still works in IT but not with Brightpoint. He is with another company and does computer work on the side as well. I have a home based business that I do from home and occasional crafts as well. So we all stay busy and creative in this house. I can understand that you have days of frustrations. I know I did when I had my hip replacement in ’99 and going through therapy at the rehab center that I was staying at shortly after my surgery. My roommate there was also a stroke patient but she was not as severe as you were and much older than you. She had to go through alot of therapy though. It is good that you have a support line that you do and being a part of a group who can understand your progress and downfalls too. I commend your husband and your family who are there for you. I know that the gospel teaches us to be each other’s light and strength. And I too am thankful that we have those blessings in our lives. I always had thought you and Mark were an exceptional couple and I was right. So keep up the good work and you will progress far and help those who dont have those strengths that you do. And your children are adorable. Take care and keep in touch. You have my email: twlutz76@yahoo.com and our home address is: 5056 West Bay Road, Plainfield, IN 46168 and if you like I could arrange to pay you a visit when I am in the area. I visit with the folks who lives in your general area every other Tues. I also have a friend who lives near you and she has MS and is completely in the wheelchair and she is a positive lady and a dear friend of ours. Maybe you two ought to meet sometime. Well just wanted to say hi and to touch base with you guys. Sherri Lutz
