Jenny had a swallow test done today to see if she was able to keep food/liquids going down the right pipe when she swallows. I was able to be there and see her swallow barium laced ice cream during her x-ray. She had no problems and they were pleased with her ability to swallow. By the way, she has a really cute skull and nice pointy jaw bone. Her speech therapist said that a week ago that she would not have thought Jenny could have done what she did today. So, Jenny gets more variety in her diet as long as it is pureed. She will start out tomorrow with fruit and maybe mashed potatoes. She will most likely have just a few spoonfuls total, but each one is going to be heaven to her. She lets us know that she misses eating foods.
I started playing Master Mind with her, and she is doing great so far. The nurses insist that I will cheat if they don’t monitor my play. They know me better than I thought. Jenny still struggles with vision and feeling uncomfortable/pain. I don’t know if I ever really get her to a point of feeling totally comfortable. I did get the okay to use high top shoes rather than these really massive boots/braces that help preserve her feet from pointing permanently. Jenny hates the boots more than anything else. I think they work better anyhow.
Hi Jenny and Mark,
It’s Lisa’s Mom again! Lisa told me that my last note to you made her cry, so it probably did that to you, too, but there were just a few things that I thought you should know. She also highly approved of my note, so I’m glad I finally said the things that one should say sooner, and not wait till something critical happens, but that is human nature. 🙂 Hopefully, we’ve all learned from this experience.
We are so amazed and pleased with your progress. It’s wonderful to read Mark’s notes everyday and feel a part of what you all are going through. We have no doubt that you are putting everything possible into your recovery and that is why you are being successful. Just keep up the good work – we’re all pulling for you! If there’s anything we can do, you know we will try our best to help. You and your family remain in our prayers.
Love, Carolyn & Gary
Loved reading today’s entry! Thanks again. We are specifically praying for communication to be easier. One of our kids said “Jenny still has perfect communication with Jesus!” Much love, Harry Whitney and gang
Hey Mark and Jenny!!!!!!!!!
This is great, I am so happy to hear the the swallow test went so well. That is a HUGE step. I am glad that things are progressing. Sounds like therapy is doing it’s job and so is Jenny. This is probably the hardest work her body will ever have to do.
Please give my regards to everyone else and give Missy a hug for me.
I love you both dearly-
In Love and Faith
Janet
* Thanks again for giving me the oppertunity to share this time with you all*

Hi, Mark, Jenny and kids —
Sorry if this is a duplicate message – looked to me like the first one didn’t post.
Just wanted you to know that I continue to pray that Jenny will be free of pain and comfortable. I am also thankful to see answered prayers!
I am thankful to you, Mark, for the “visits” with you and Jenny and the kids. Your father-in-law is right – you are a mountain of a man.
Take care, all…
I have tears of joy each time I hear about your progress and the optomistic reports from the doctors. I can’t help but think about the sign you and Missy had on your door about willing to be different than the crowd. Your determination is an inspiration to me. Love, Dad
Hi Jenny!
Your progress is amazing! Thank you so much Mark for posting her progress. Jessie must get your sense of competition Jenny. We were playing bird, bug bingo last Sunday and she wasn’t getting any wins. It was almost time for us to go and I wanted them to play with the elefun game where the butterflies fly out, so I had to quit the bingo game, but as I was getting out the elefun toy and making up my mind if I was going to play that or continue with the bingo game, Jessie got frustrated waiting and she loudly exclaimed, “Let’s get on with the game!” I thought it was cute.
Know that you are all always in my prayers.
LOL Grace
