ASL WORDS

WORD & ALPHA ON VIDEO, IS FOUND HERE.
IT’S A HELPFUL REFERENCE…I DO SOME WORDS DIFFERENT, SINCE I SPEAK MANY “DIALECTS.”

MOST WORDS I DON’T DO, DUE 2 BEING 1-HAND, & HAVING A LIMITED RANGE OF MOTION.  IF I DO A WORD SIGN, U SIMPLY SAY U DON’T KNOW IT, & I SPELL IT OUT, & U CAN ADD THE “JENNY STYLE SIGN” 2 YOUR REPIRITORE.

I HAVE NEVER TAKEN A SIGN LANGUAGE CLASS.  I’M A MODGE-PODGE OF WORDS FROM DIFFERENT PEOPLE (I ALSO TAUGHT PRIMARY SONGS IN ASL, SO I “STEAL” WORDS FROM MY HISTORY), SO I SPEAK W/MANY “ACCENTS.”  THERE R MANY SIGNS I DO DIFFERENT OR NOT AT ALL (LIKE I SIGN “CAMERA/PICTURE” AT WAIST HEIGHT, & I CAN’T SIGN “JESUS” OR “FRIEND”), NO THANKS 2 MY LIMITED MOVT. & BEING 1-HANDED.

I SIGN “JENNY-ESE”-A MODIFIED ASL, WITH A MIX OF ASL WORDS & SIGNS…ONCE U HAVE SHOWN YOU CAN BE FLUENT IN “JENNY-ESE” FINGERSPELLING (THAT’S SOOO IMPORTANT!), SO I THROW IN A FEW WORDS.

IF U CHOOSE 2 LEARN ANY WORDS, I SUGGEST LEARNING “I/ME,” “MY,” “YOU,” “AND,” “THE,” & “THANK U.” :
I/ME — POINT TO MYSELF
MY/MINE — HAND ON BELLY
U—POINT 2 U
AND—I CAN DEMONSTRATE
THE- – IT’S A “T” 2 THE RT, EASILY CONFUSED W/POTTY.
THANKS/GOOD (SAME SIGN4 BOTH, BUT LOOK UP GOOD –THAT’S HOW I DO IT.  IF I SAY “GOOD,” I DO A “G,” THEN SIGN “THANKS”)

MORE WORDS:
Learn 1 of the signs below (u may know some), & practice that word all week
like
want
wait
Feel
Christ
love
Scriptures (I sign “Christ book”)
Be
We
What
Who
Why
Just
Time(s)
do/did/does
Song/sing/music
Say (Like if I end a prayer or my testimony, I’ll say, “& I say these things..”, & you can just finish saying the phrase)

I CAN SPELL OUT NAMES IN MY FAMILY, BUT U MAY WANT 2 LEARN MY SIGN NAMES 4 “MARK,” “ZACH,” “JESSICA,” & “SOPHIA.”:
MARK—LETTER “M”, THEN LETTER “K”
ZACH—BIG LETTER”Z”
JESSICA—LETTER “J”, THEM THE WORD”CUT” (“SCISSORS”
SOPHIA—THE WORD “BAG”, BUT THE FIST IS SHAPED LIKE LETTER “S” (SHAKE FIST, SHAPED LIKE LETTER “S, AS IF HOLDING A BAG—RESEMBLES SIGNING “YES”)

A COMMON MISTAKE, IS IF I POINT 2 MYSELF, 4 THE WORD “I”, THEN SIGN THE LETTER “T” (&/OR “F” OR “S”). I AM NOT SPELLING “I-T” 4 THE WORD “IT.” POINTING AT MYSELF, DEFINED AN ENTIRE WORD: “I.” SO, I WILL MORE LIKELY SAY “I THINK” OR “I THOUGHT.”
